Holy Week and Easter 2020
April 2 2020Holy Week and Easter this year are going to be very different for us all. The current Coronavirus crisis means that we need to stay at home and remain safe. We won’t be able to visit our usual places of worship in person, sing some of our favourite hymns together or share our chocolate eggs with friends on Easter Sunday.
Churches Together in Cheadle Hulme usually mark Easter with an open-air service in Oak Meadow. This year, because of the pandemic, we have had to cancel it. However, we still wanted to mark Holy Week and Easter. Therefore, we have commissioned a series of short acts of reflection and worship by the clergy in our member churches. Where and when you can watch or listen to each is listed below. Please feel free to invite friends, family and neighbours to share them.
Date | Clergy member | Where to listen/watch |
Palm Sunday 5 April | Revd Janet Owens All Saints (C of E) | Listen on the All Saints website On Facebook and on YouTube from 10 am on Sunday 5 April. |
Maundy Thursday 9 April | Fr Chris McCurry St Ann’s Roman Catholic Church | On Facebook and on YouTube from 6 pm on Thursday 9 April |

Easter is the most significant event in the Christian calendar. It is when we remember Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection three days later. Jesus’ sacrifice and his rising from the dead are central to God’s relationship with all of us.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” John 3 v16.
Happy Easter from the whole team at CTCH
